Kashmir is a solid-colored version of a Himalayan Cat developed in the USA in 1950s. It has no connection with the geographical place of Kashmir. The appearance of Kashmir is that of a Persian Cat with solid chocolate or lilac fur. It is gentle, intelligent, outgoing, calm, self-confident, devoted, demanding and affectionate. Kashmir is recognized as a separate breed only by the Canadian Cat Association, for others it is merely Chocolate Persian or Lilac Persian. Though it is not quite correct, as Kashmir is not genetically pure Persian, but has Siamese inheritance as well.
